To those who are too lazy to click the link:

Having more levels in a weapon attribute makes you do more damage.

But it does not matter how many levels you're ahead of your weapon's requirement, what matters is your total level.

12 Attribute with 8 req weapon = X damage
12 Attribute with 12 req weapon = X damage

8 Attribute with 8 req weapon = less than X damage
8 Attribute with 12 req weapon = basically no damage

I found some idiot who was selling an 8req max dmg fellblade for 8k. While a 12req goes for less. I don't think it's really going to matter much...

The actual damage caluclation is also based on your level and the level of the creature you are fighting, if you are higher level you actually receive a bonus to damage upto 150%. (before armour)
I am fairly certain you recieve a slight pen to your damage when fighting higher level creatures, the exact calculation I could not say, as this is affected more but A.net balancing and individual armour class tweaks to creatures than Just level based damage.

The only way req on weapon attributes would matter is when the +20% enchantment duration is affected by it.

There is no build in the world that needs 8 sword skill. Either you wear the weapon for the bonus (the enchantment grip on the +5 energy sword) or you have 14+. Hammers may be an exeption, but if you only use knockdown, the req should not matter at all?

Incorrect. You will only fail to get the individual bonuses that you do not have the requirement for. For example, most staves have an attribute requirement on the damage, but not on the energy. If you equip a staff, even one for an attribute you do not posess, you will still get the energy.

No it isn't.

I am 100% positive that you made that up.

Why not? You made up everything else so far, go ahead and make up exact numbers too.

Summary: You're full of shit. Don't start denouncing my work if you aren't about to back even a hint of it up.

Peace,

Ok so he made a mistake, theres really no need for that kind of talk is there? Just becuase your a mod doesn't mean you can swear and be rude.

Anyways back on TOPIC:

In my case I have 12 points in Marksmanship, but during PvP this can be raised to 15 if I'm going in with a quick shot build, my currently bow requires 10, but I'm hoping to find a Gold one (or buy one) which higher requirment.

I'm not sure if you are aware of a bow in mineral springs-9 Marks +15% Damage over 50%-Ascalon Bow-Short bow version. If you feel the need to buy a better bow I feel sorry for you.

No offense - but how does your "on-topic" post really help? In fact, I'd be inclined to argue that by advocating a purchase of a higher-requirement weapon you'd be spreading misinformation about what the OP said: requirement doesn't matter.

These forums are meant (at least in part) to be a source of correct and reliable information about the game. One could also argue that making (baseless) claims about game mechanics and touting them as truth is even worse for the community than insulting that same person for spreading this information.

Well since the weapon would have a high req. it would force me to add more points towards it, making my Marksmanship skills more effective all the time indirectly. That's what I was trying to say.

Just becuase he a mod doesn't mean he can swear and be rude. Its pays to be polite.

I was resently warned for being insultive on these forums, there shouldn't be a set of rules of us, and differet set of rules for them.

Anyways I added my on-topic feedback to the thread, take it or leave it.

We all human and we make mistakes, no need to be mean about it

Charles has spent quite a lot time on his article. Having some random troll spamming stupid statements in these forums can touch a raw nerve. We all make mistakes, but some people should think before hitting the reply button.

I'm locking this thread as it is full of wrong statements.
Please read this before starting a new thread.
